Aviation Forecasts and Current Location

It's time for another SARWeather update report. Many of these changes have already been made available over the last few weeks, and it is now time to tell the world about them.

We have introduced specialised aviation forecasts, show the user's current location on forecast maps and made various interface improvements.

SARWeather Downtime and Alternative Server

The update which is about to be deployed to SARWeather requires extensive changes to the server topology and configuration and the servers are expected to go off-line for at least several hours over the next couple of days.

While this goes on, we will keep the testing servers running and those of you who expect to need forecasts in the coming days can get access there. Send an e-mail to admins@sarweather.com and tell us your SARWeather username and we'll set up access in the testing system. You can either do this pre-emptively now, or when you discover that you suddenly need that forecast.

We're sorry for the inconvenience, but we hope that the update and the future improvements it enables will make it worthwhile.

Regards,
Logi

Forecast Ordering, Easy Integration, Better Animation

We have updated SARWeather again. We have a lot of changes this time around, both in the weather plots and the animation and image-loading logic, but also in the list of forecasts.

Also, we have finally removed the "beta" stamp from the SARWeather logo.

More Plots, Bigger Areas & Lower Prices

Another update has hit the SARWeather servers. It has only been 11 days since the last update, but we have a lot of user-visible changes this time around. We have more types of weather plots, improvements to the previous forecasts, lower prices, and forecasts covering larger areas.

Simplified Payment, Forecast Lists

It's that time again, and we in the SARWeather Development Team have updated our service. This time around, the changes are mostly about making it possible to pay for individual forecasts and to improve the behaviour of the system when you run out of credit.

Why High-Resolution Forecasts?

One thing that sets the SARWeather forecasts apart from other sources of weather information available in various media, and usually for free, is that we generate much higher-resolution forecasts.

But what does this means for me? I don't care about your techno-babble!

Forecast Lists, Concurrent Pre-Processing and Mailing List

We have updated the SARWeather production servers again. Most of the changes are under the hood and not visible to users, but allowed us to implement concurrent pre-processing and other such improvements in the future.

But let's look at the changes in more detail!
